Year 6 Transition Day
The new Year 7 intake were treated to a tailor made programme of activities when they came to Harris Purley for their Transition day Friday 2nd July. The aim of the day was to provide an opportunity for the students to meet their tutor, tutees and to engage in fun activities to help them develop confidence, team build and to make lots of friends.
Artis a Performing Arts Specialist company were on hand to deliver some classes in improvisational comedy and dynamic storytelling. Students had taster lessons in Maths, English, Science, Design Technology, Music. Dance, Geography, History, French and ICT.Lesson activities involved recording a song on the new iMAC's in music, Image modification in ICT, learning a rock and Roll dance in Dance and meeting Henry the snake and burning magnesium in science! The students were issued with a hardback scrapbook and Summer Assignment to encourage them to work independently over the holidays. They had a positive day and we're really looking forward to welcoming them back in September. Dawn Steele
