Breck Foundation Assemblies

Every morning this week, Maddie and Ashlee from the Croydon Volunteer Police Cadets have come in to deliver an assembly to our students about the Breck Foundation.

Breck Bednar was a 14 year old boy from Caterham, who in 2014, was groomed and murdered by somebody he regularly spoke to while playing games online. The aim of Maddie and (former Purley student) Ashlee's assembly was to raise awareness of online grooming and to help our students understand that this sort of thing can take place a lot closer to home than you might realise. Breck's story is particularly poignant, as he lived just a few miles from our Academy and would spend a lot of his time in the Croydon area.

Maddie and Ashlee finished the assembly by giving students advice on what they should do if they believe they themselves, or one of their friends, are being groomed.
