Federation Netball Tournament

On the Thursday 9th of November 2017 the Year 9 Netball team travelled to Harris Academy Merton to compete in the Harris Federation Netball Tournament.

The team had a difficult pool for the first round, with some challenging competition. The first game was very close in the first half, but it unfortunately resulted in a defeat for HAPU.

After a break and some team swaps the girls played Harris Academy Rainham, which was an exceptionally close game! The girls led 3-0, but Rainham fought hard and equalised half way through the match. Purley then scored a forth, followed by another equaliser from Rainham! In the last few minutes, Tia Smith scored the winning goal for HAPU!

In the final game, Purley took on Invictus and managed a confident win, taking us into the semi finals.

During a very fast paced intense game the girls went into the second half 3-0 down, however with strong performances from all the team they managed to claim 4 goals back, sadly losing 5-4.

The girls showed excellent sportsmanship throughout and worked very well as a supportive team together.

The team consisted of: Taejah McKenzie, Eden Greenidge, Freya Stephenson, Phoebe Barnes, Alex Dube, Kelis Walker, Tia Smith and Brooke Denham-Gowlett.
