Black History Month Celebration
On Thursday 30th November 2017, the Academy hosted its 'Black History Month Celebration' concert, organised by the Performing Arts department and Teacher of RE, Miss Dingwall.
The concert offered an audience of parents, teachers and students a range of performances, including dramatic monologues, poetry recitals, raps and instrumentals, all based on music or art of black origin.
The academy hall was beautifully decorated with lights and flowers and work by the students was posted along the walls and stage, showing off the research and artwork they have produced in lessons during Black History Month.
Half way through the celebration was an intermission that offered food and drink produced and served by students, ranging from pineapple cobblers to cornbread and complimented with glasses of orange juice, water or cola. This was all under the guidance of Food Technology teacher, Miss Gale and Food Technician Ms Sensesligil.
Thank you to all of the staff who helped prepare and run the evening and a huge congratulations to all of the students who performed or helped throughout the evening!
