Careers in the NHS assembly
On 17th January Year 8 were given a theatrical presentation of career options within the NHS, who have begun a nationwide campaign to dispel the myth that Health Care is only Doctors and Nurses and difficult to enter into.
Enact Theatre Company presented a humorous play about 3 students, searching for their friend Dave, who they were told had been sent to hospital. During their search, Dave was represented as an extensive array of often unheard professionals with the NHS. 61 different career pathways were covered including the various different routes into those professions which included both the tradition degree route as well as apprenticeships and other training opportunities. This presentation is part of drive by the NHS to engage young people in thinking carefully about what the organisation can offer in terms of career paths.
As the largest employer in Europe and the 4th largest employer in the world, events such as these allow students to understand the importance of the NHS and begin thinking about Heath Care professions.
