Festivities around the Academy
On Thursday 20th December, the academy celebrated Christmas with it’s annual Christmas Jumper Day and a special Christmas dinner in the canteen. Students were encouraged to come to school in some festive knitwear in place of their academy jumper, while giving a small donation to charity for the privilege. Later that evening, Ms Lucas and some Design and Technology students setup a stall in the Academy Hall to sell bespoke cards they had designed and printed for our first Faculty Awards Evening.
The students also turned their designs into colourful t-shirts, which the students wore at their stall. The proceeds of the card sale will go to Croydon Nightwatch, a charity which has supported homeless people in the Croydon area since 1974. So far the money raised is in excess of £300!
In Food Technology, Ms Gale and Ms Sensesligil - with the assistance of some talented Food and Nutrition students - built a gingerbread version of the academy! This was on display throughout the week and complimented some of the festive treats and edible tree decorations Food students had created in lessons.
