Enrichment & Extension Programme
Here at Harris Academy Purley we value every opportunity to extend the learning for our students. Our Enrichment and Extension activities not only give students the chance to further develop their skills learnt in lessons but allow them to try new activities, such as Fencing.
We run a wide range of clubs throughout the school day, ranging from sports clubs to homework and study support sessions.
Please use the links below to access the full range of Enrichment and Extension sessions available to students before, during and at the end of the Academy day.
Spanish Immersion Evening
On the 26th February, the MFL department organised a Spanish Immersion Evening for Year 9 students, where they had the opportunity to discover traditional Spanish food, practise the language with native speakers and watch a fascinating Flamenco show at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
The language teachers delivered several cultural lessons in the weeks leading up to the trip, which gave the students an opportunity to practise restaurant dialogues and food vocabulary. ‘Patatas Bravas’ and ‘Paellas’ were the students’ favourite dishes and they were impressed by the passion and energy of the Flamenco dancers.
Students were very proactive and fully engaged. The evening was and excellent cultural and social experience for them. They are now asking for a trip to Spain!
