Rewards & Recognition
At our school, we believe in recognising and celebrating the positive contributions of every student.
A full breakdown of our rewards and sanctions system can be found in the Behaviour Policy.
A key part of the Academy ethos is to promote outstanding behaviour and achievement. The Academy reward systems are based upon these key principles, allowing staff to reward students for their academic and pastoral achievements, whilst providing a motivational role in helping students to realise that good behaviour is valued.
Behaviour Points (PEPs)
Students to earn positive behaviour points, called 'PEPs' for a wide range of achievements, including good behaviour, exceptional work, respectful conduct around the Academy, courtesy towards others, helpfulness, and strong academic performance. These points reflect not only individual effort but also the values of our school community, encouraging students to develop positive habits, support one another, and strive for excellence in all areas of school life.
The points are recorded on Bromcom (our CMS) and will send an email or text message home to inform families of the positive event. As these points accumulate throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to attend special events, such as rewards trips, pizza parties or a Principal's Breakfast. Students are also recognised for those achievements in weekly and end-of-term assemblies.
Principal's Breakfast
Every four weeks, students are invited to attend a free breakfast before the first lesson of the day, where a selection of breakfast foods and drinks is provided at no cost. This is a valuable opportunity for students to meet informally with the Principal, talk about their experiences of school life, and share their views in a relaxed setting. It also gives them an insight into what is happening across the Academy, including developments and opportunities that they may not otherwise hear about, helping them feel more informed, involved, and connected to the school community.
Race to 15
Every 15 days the Academy runs a prize draw in assembly for students that have achieved 100% attendance with zero negative points over the previous 15 days.
The winner receives a prize, such as shopping vouchers for popular websites and highstreet shops.
Catch Me and Queue Jumps
When students produce excellent work, or show exceptional engagement in class, the teacher will send a Catch Me request to the Duty Principal. The Duty Principal will visit the lesson to commend the students and will also issue PEPs in regognition for their outstanding work. This can be in addition to any PEPs awarded directly by the teacher.
In addition to PEPs, students will also recieve a Queue Jump, which allows them to skip the canteen queue at break and lunchtime.
Rewards Trips
Each term the Academy will organise rewards trips for students that have earned a significant number of points. These trips have included Thorpe Park, Vue Cinema, bowling and Oxygen Freejumping. Find out more about our Trips & Visits.
