Transitioning to Year 7

Making the move from Year 6 in to Year 7 is a fun and exciting time. There are lots of changes to prepare for, such as the new building, a lesson timetable, new teachers, and even new friends. We look forward to welcoming all of our new Year 7 students to Harris Academy Purley each September. You are about to embark on a brand new journey at secondary school and we aim to make your start as smooth as possible.
Year 7 Information Evening (before September)
We invite parents and carers of our incoming Year 7 cohort to join us at the academy to meet with our transition and pastoral teams, and to share more details of your child’s experience at HAPU. The evening will provide information on what to expect in the lead up to joining us. You will also get the chance to meet our wider leadership team.
Induction Day (September)
On your first day you will get the opportunity to spend time with those in your form, find out about your timetable, get to know the building and our expectations without other year groups around. We can also complete important admin on this day too like getting your photograph taken and organising your ParentPay lunch account.
Meet the Parents evening (October)
A little further into term, we will host a Meet the Parents evening, where families have the opportunity to come in and hear about their child's first few weeks at the Academy. This is an opportunity for us to give families important information, and for families to ask any questions or concerns they may have.
