Formal Examinations
GCSE and A-Level students will sit public examinations (GCSEs & A-Levels) in the summer. A timetable for the examinations will be published at the bottom of this page when the dates are confirmed.
Students must arrive at the Academy at least 30 minutes before the start of an exam, in full school uniform, and with all necessary equipment for that exam. In many cases, we will run revision sessions on the day of the exam. Please take a moment to read over the rules for examinations to ensure you do not take any prohibited items into the examination rooms, and that you understand what is required of you under exam conditions.
A more comprehensive checklist for examinations can be found here.
Internal Assessments
All students in Years 7-10 will sit mid-year and end-of-year assessments during set windows across the Academic year. These assessments act as an opportunity to assess learning and progress over time.
Most assessment windows are sat off timetable, meaning that students will follow a specific assessment schedule during the assessment window and normal lessons will be suspended. More information will follow ahead of each assessment window to parents of students in the relevant year groups.
Results Days
Students may collect their results from the Academy on the morning of national GCSE and A-Level results days. A letter containing further information will be sent out before those dates.
Results will be presented in a sealed envelope, which students may choose to open alongside their peers, or take away to open in private. Staff will be on-hand to support with appeals, enrolment and UCAS clearing.
Parents and carers will not be permitted to enter the building on those dates, but are welcome to wait outside reception.
If a student is unable to collect their results from the Academy, they may nominate somebody to collect them on their behalf. We must receive a written request at least 24 hours in advance. That nominated person must bring photographic ID and confirmation that we have accepted your request.
Certificates and Replacements
The Academy will retain your exam certificates for 1 year after they are issued. You must contact the Examinations Officer before the end of that 1 year period to arrange a mutually convenient time to collect the certificates.
If the 1 year deadline has passed, you can apply for a ‘Certified Statement of Results’, which is an official document that lists the subjects you took, the year they were taken, and the grades you achieved. We can provide this for up to 3 years after your final exam. The statement is accepted by most employers, but may need to be accompanied by a verification letter, which you obtain from the awarding body.
We are unable to order or issue replacement certificates.
