Deja (Head Girl)

Deja (Head Girl)

Deja was voted-in as Head Girl at Purley, having attended the Academy since Year 7.

"I was supported by great teachers who believed in me"

My name is Deja, and I am proud to be Head Girl at Harris Academy Purley. When I first joined the school in Year 7, I was nervous, but it didn’t take long for Purley to feel like home. From Years 7 to 11, I was supported by great teachers who believed in me, challenged me, and encouraged me to aim high. I achieved good grades at GCSE and that helped me confirm my decision to stay on for Sixth Form.

Sixth Form has been a big step up from Year 11, but I enjoy the independence and new opportunities it brings. I applied for Head Girl to make small changes to life at the Academy. Hopefully having a positive impact on the school before I leave.

Looking ahead, I hope to go on to university to study sociology, as I am passionate about understanding society and want to help people make positive changes to their lives.
