Library
Quote from Maya Angelou"When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young."
Our school library occupies a prominent position at the heart of the school and serves as a vibrant, welcoming space for the whole school community. It is a popular and well-used hub where students come to read, study and relax. We offer an ever-growing collection of fiction and non-fiction texts, alongside graphic novels, magazines, poetry, quick reads and study guides to suit a wide range of interests and abilities. Students can visit the library at break, lunchtime and after school, and may borrow up to three books for three weeks, with extensions available on request.
The library hosts a lively programme of clubs and activities that are open to all students. These include Board Games Club, Feel Good Fridays and Chess Club, all of which are extremely popular. In addition, we regularly run workshops, competitions, events and author visits, helping to make the library an inspiring and dynamic place to be.

The library is in an exciting stage of development with plans underway to extend into the next room, creating an area dedicated to quiet reading, silent study and research. This will be a fantastic addition to our space, allowing students to utilise a calm and focused environment.
As part of our commitment to broadening students’ literary experiences beyond the classroom, we have taken many groups to the British Library in London, where they have participated in workshops and explored its remarkable collections. We have also been fortunate to take part in live-streamed sessions led by award-winning authors, as well as attend inspiring in-person talks by successful writers.
All students can access the school library catalogue online and are encouraged to do so to reserve books, find recommendations, write reviews and keep a track of loans.
Our online library directory is constantly updated with the books we have available in the library. Students are given a login to Reading Cloud, which will allow them to filter books by genre, see suggestions for similar titles, or even read and write reviews for books they have borrowed.
Speak to our Librarian for your login information.
