Our Reward System
A full breakdown of our rewards and sanctions system can be found in the Behaviour Policy on our Student Welfare page.
A key part of the Academy ethos is to promote outstanding behaviour and achievement. The Academy reward systems are based upon these key principles, allowing staff to reward students for their academic
and pastoral achievements, whilst providing a motivational role in helping students to realise that good behaviour is valued.
The Academy rewards are given by staff through a process of behaviour for learning points and through faculty/year celebration assemblies. Weekly positive reports are generated and distributed to each faculty so that students can be continually recognised for their positive contributions to their learning and the academy. The faculty leadership team, through analysis of these reports and liaison with their teachers and tutors, will distribute rewards during faculty assemblies.
Rewards are also given to individual faculties who achieve outstanding results in attendance, behaviour and academic studies. Staff members are rewarded through peer and student nominations by demonstrating excellence in a number of areas related to teaching and learning and outstanding behaviour.
Students are awarded positive points for:
- Academy Contribution (1 point / 1 PEP)
- Academic Performance (1)
- Respect for Learning and Others (1)
- Pastoral Performance and Courage (1)
- Integrity within the Community (1)
- Catch Me (5)
- Courtesy Card (5)
Points are recorded on the Academy management system and administered by staff. Students are given weekly updates in tutor time of the number of points they have. Students can win individual awards, tutor group awards or Faculty awards. This underpins the philosophy of working together and the celebratory culture of the Academy.
Race to 15
Every 15 days the Academy runs a prize draw in assembly from students that have achieved 100% attendance and zero negative points over the previous 15 days. The winner receives a £20 voucher, which can be spent at a number of popular shops and websites.
Congratulations to this term's winners, who include:

Catch Me and Queue Jumps
When students produce excellent work, or show exceptional engagement in class, the teacher can request a Catch Me through email. Our Duty Principal will receive the message and then attend that lesson to see the work and potentially reward the student with behaviour points.
From each Catch Me, a student will receive 5 positive behaviour points and a Queue Jump. The Queue Jump allows the student to go to the front of the lunch queue at break and lunchtime that day.
The event is logged on our CMIS and a text message is sent home.
Rewards Trips
At the end of each term students have the option to exchange the reward points they have earned for school equipment, privilege cards or tickets for one of our reward trips.
Previous trips have included bowling, the cinema and Oxygen Freejumping.
