Biology, Chemistry and Physics saw 100% of results at grade 4-9, with over 60% being grade 7 or higher - all with more than +1 Progress! English rose by 6% to 76% grades 4-9. Media achieved an impressive 96% at grades 4-9 and Art saw 86% (33% of which were grade 7 or higher)!


A huge congratulations to Year 11 students collecting their GCSE results today! All of their hard work has paid off with another year of fantastic results! We look forward to welcoming them back next year as Sixth Form students!

We witnessed some great performances at yesterday's Harris Federation Sports Day, including 4 medal finishes for Purley! Well done to all of our athletes, spectators and staff who represented our academy at the event!


Yesterday, the academy held its first-ever Day of Sports. All year groups competed in numerous sporting tournaments throughout the day, ranging from badminton and basketball to table tennis and athletics!

Year 9 Art students have worked hard this week on their self-portraits; learning how to use tone to create depth within the face. Marita, Grace and Maya have definitely caught a likeness! What a talented group of artists - Miss Forsdyke


The library team have made some fantastic D-Day displays, celebrating the 75th anniversary. Students using the library at break and after school have access to newspaper articles and books about the event


This week students have been on trips to Goodwood Farm to see where their food comes from. They had the opportunity to meet some of the animals and see some super cars on the nearby race track. One student even had the opportunity to operate a £140,000 tractor!

From the 7th to the 9th May, 12 lucky Year 10 & 12 students took part in an Architecture workshop lead by the 3.09 Collective; a group of young architects aiming to open doors for students from diverse backgrounds into the world of Architecture and Urban Planning.


Maya attended an awards ceremony at City Hall this week for being a Runner Up in her age category in the Mayor of London's Fourth Plinth competition. Maya's artwork 'Women's Journey' will remain on display to the public at City Hall. Well done Maya!

Year 6 into 7 Transitions

Year 6 Induction Interviews (26th June 2019)

Parents will have receive a letter inviting them to interviews held at the Academy.


Transition Day (Friday 5th July 2019)

Prospective students will have the opportunity to explore the academy and experience a typical secondary school day without the distraction of our other year groups. 

Students will benefit from learning the locations of each department and will meet key staff such including our Attendance Manager, Student Services staff, Heads of House and Pastoral Directors of Learning.


Year 6 Parents Evening (Monday 8th July 2019)

This is an evening for parents and carers to meet our subject teachers and key members of staff before your child starts at the academy. We will provide you with important information about the academy itself and will be happy to answer any questions you have.


Year 6 Fun Day (Saturday 13th July 2019, 10:00-13:00)

Our Fun Day offers a variety of activities for prospective students to take part in. This is a great opportunity to make new friends before the start of school and will help students settle into the academy environment.


Summer Schools (29th Jul - 1st Aug / 27th Aug - 30th Aug 2019)

There will be two Summer Schools, both held over four days from 10:00-14:00.

  • Week 1 will run from Monday 29th July to Thursday 1st August 2019
  • Week 2 will run from Tuesday 27th August to Friday 30th August 2019

The aim of the Summer School is to support your son / daughter's transition into secondary school and specifically into Harris Academy Purley, through a range of lessons and activities.

Students will have the chance to experience lessons on the Academy site, meet teachers, make friends and begin to learn the way Harris and the Academy function. There will be plenty of opportunities to work and play outdoors, and students will develop skills in teamwork, creativity and communication.

Summer School Payment

You can pay for a place at our Summer School using our PayPal payment facility below. You do not need a PayPal account to use your credit or debit card. Pupil Premium students are entitled to the discounted rate.

Please tell us the name of your child and either your PayPal email address or name on your payment card so we can link the transaction to your son or daughter.

Our PayPal payment facility will only become available from the start of July. Please register your interest before then, so we can ensure there is enough interest in both of the weeks.
