Year 6 into 7 Transitions

Making the move from Year 6 to Year 7 is a fun and exciting time, with lots of changes to prepare for such as a new building, new timetable, new teachers and even new friends. We are delighted to welcome all of our new Year 7 students to Harris Academy Purley (HAPU) in September. You are about to embark on a brand new journey at secondary school and we aim to make your start in September as smooth as possible.

Sadly, due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation we are unable to invite parents and students into the academy for our Transition events, but have put together some virtual events to help students get a taste of things to come at HAPU.

Transition Day: Friday 3rd July 2020

Please see below for all of our online transition events.

1) Virtual Tour of the School

2) Year 7 student experiences in the first year + Form time resources

3) Mathematics Lesson

4) English Lesson

5) Science Lesson

6) Geography lesson

7) MFL lessons

Primary Schools have been notified of the above plan and we have left it to them to decide whether they wish for the students to attend their Primary Schools on the 3 July or stay at home to complete some of the Induction lessons then. Either way there should be plenty to occupy students.

Summer Fun Day 11 July 2020

Although we couldn’t run our fun day at the academy, the wonderful teachers at HAPU have put on a wide array of activities for you to complete from today and well into the summer holidays. Students are encouraged to give them a go to get into some of the community spirit we have at HAPU. Students are encouraged to take pictures, screenshots and even videos of them completing the activities and can send them to transition@harrispurley.org.uk. The best entries will feature on our wall of winners and Purley Excellence Points (PEPs), our achievement points system will be issued in September for those who sent work in.

Summer School: July/Aug 2020

Unfortunately our annual summer school, often considered one of the highlights of the year has been cancelled due to the ongoing situation surrounding Covid-19.
